Do ceramic brake pads wear rotors?

Ceramic brake pads are designed to be less abrasive than traditional semi-metallic or organic brake pads. This characteristic is intended to result in less wear on brake rotors (also known as brake discs) over time. While all brake pads create some level of wear on the rotors due to friction, ceramic brake pads are generally considered to be gentler on the rotors compared to other types of brake pads.

Ceramic brake pads are known for producing less brake dust, generating less noise, and providing good braking performance over a wide range of temperatures. They are also less likely to cause rotor warping or uneven wear, which can occur with more abrasive brake pad materials. However, it's important to note that the performance and wear characteristics of brake pads can vary based on the specific brand, formulation, and quality of the pads.

Ultimately, while ceramic brake pads are designed to reduce rotor wear compared to some other brake pad materials, it's still important to perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure the overall health of your braking system.
